So at the end of August im going to be heading over to Fiji for 10 days, but im having a real dilema as to what kind of internary to plan, havent a clue as to what are the best islands to visit for my needs, im keen on photography and am looking to et the most out of my trip.

im also a keen surfer, my 1st day or 2 i plan to get a sea taxi to the island of 'Tavarua' ... this is where the surf comps are held, but im lead to believe that on the whole island thier is only a sufers resort as accomodation which is shall we say ..not backpacker friendly with regards to prices ... can anyone confirm this? .. also if that is the case, can i just get on a boat which would take me out there to capture some pics of the waves and the billabong tower off the coast of the island?

also i browsed the photography section of this site and came across an amzing picture of someone lying down ontop of a mountain type peak with amazing views ... does anyone knoe which island this is on?

primarily im after beach livin with the txt book fijian surroundings - paradise! ... soo which would you guys suggest would be the better islands for me to visit??

also does anyone have a clue as to what kind of weather i can expect at the end of august/early september??

manhy thanks - all this advice is very much needed!

Hi Makka,

So tell me again what you intend to do in Fiji? I am from the Yasawa islands, thats north west of Nadi International Airport and I own a campsite there. I am not going to sell too much of my project with my villagers, but would like you to have a brilliant time in Fiji.

To get to the Yasawa islands, can be very very expensive as both ferries operating where we come from dont do any justice to what we have in abundance ie sand, sun and the people. All we wanted to do is to share our culture and its people.

Yes, we are at least 3 hours away on a ferry ride. Can be expensive but is all worth it.

Theres a few Homestay around where we are in neighbouring villages. To come and visit the people, my only request is to bring a big heart and a sense of adventure. Oh and patience and mosquitoe repellant. Patience as everything in Fiji is on Fiji-Time and Repellant as you'll find yourself sleeping next to a beach.

Good luck mate and stay safe.

Hello Seru; welcome to the forum. This post is over 9 years old (9y in grey top right), Makka's probably been to Fiji and is well gone by now.

I too have found myself replying to threads that only after I realised were years old. I reckon some of these older threads should have the reply feature disabled.
