Go to Tallin in Estonia for a day......you can easily get a ferry across which takes about an hour. It's a really beautiful country, quite heavily influenced by Russia and a good place to wander round, have a long lunch and generally relax!

Suomenlinna is something you should go and see. A lot of people go there for a picknick or a party in the evening hours (esp. on friday and saturday).

The Russian orthodox Cathedral is worth a visit, also look for the Temppeliaukio church, it's a church build within the rocks. You can also make daytrips to Porvoo (by boat: Runeburg), or to Turku and/or Tampere (2 hours by train).

And avoid the Stadium Hostel.

from these places I've only seen Seurisaari. If you like to see old buildings from all over Finland, in a forrestlike surrounding, and you want to know a bit more about the way people lived a 100 years ago, you'll be fine. It's also nice to be away from the city, and have a nice walk. I was there just after the season, and noticed half the houses were closed for visitors, and there were't a lot of people there at all. In general I enjoyed it.

Zoo's and amusement park too me seem to be alike, no matter where you are, so I never bother to go there.

I agree about Tallinn!
Beautiful medieval architecture. Historical Center is small, one day should be enough to see.
Good coffee and cakes as well.

don't know if you like museums but Helsinki's National Musuem is one of the best I've ever been in anywhere in the world. It should take you about three hours for a Quick run around the place, but really worth it. The Natural History museum is a different matter.... best avoided in my opinion.

If you're there on a thursday night DO NOT MISS Karly 12, the bar-club, just to watch the Finnish business men standing on tables singing. Its a good laugh.

Helsinki is a lovely city, just walking in the parks is a pleasure not to be missed. There are a couple of great flea markets on saturday mornings where you can buy all sorts of Tat, Russian Communist memorabilia etc...

Suomenlinna is a really great day out also, last time I was there it even had Jazz concerts and other stuff on. If you like classical music there is always lots on.

Sorry I can't be more specific, just enjoy whatever is recommeded.
