Hi....I was just wondering whether anyone knows about companies that specialise in ethical tourism? Hotels/Eco-lodges (that aren't ridiculously expensive), tour companies, trekking etc? I am in Bolivia and so any specific info about here would be cool. Ta.xxx

Sustainable travel simply is more expensive than regular travel, both for 'real' reasons and because it caters to a wealthier clientele.

Don't know them, but this may be what you are looking for. If you decide to use them, please post back your experiences.

Yeah, that looks really cool...and not expensive like a lot of volunteer options. I am in Samaipata at the moment and someone in my hostel told me about a new project in Sucre called Condor Trekkers. I don't think they have started doing stuff yet but apparently they are an NGO and all the money goes to a street kid project. I will post back when if I get more info and look into Sustainable Bolivia in the mean time - thanks! Keep the info coming!xxxx

OK....now in Sucre and have some more info if anyone is interested! There is a new ethical tour company here called Condortrekkers and they are based in a hostal (Alojamiento Potosi, near the market). They've not started doing city tours or treks yet but I spoke to the guy, Randall, that runs it and they should be starting soon. All the profits goes to social projects here. It seems like a really cool organisation and Randall said he's aiming prices at backpackers, not super expensive eco-tours. The website is www.condortrekkers.org and the email address is on the website Hope this helps! If I'm still here when they start, I'll go trekking with them so might have some more info on how good they are later :0)

Great Chloe,

By the time you found out more, could you put it in the Bolivia or Sucre article of Travel Guide?
