Hallo we are travelling to Cyprus next august and would like to explore both the north and the south:
From what I read it seems difficult to cross the border to the north with a rented car so I tought to rent a car in the north for the first ten days and then another one in the south for the last ten.
Arriving in Larnaca I'll take a taxi/bus to Nicosia, spend there the first night then cross the border, take the car and make the north trip.
Coming back I'll leave the car in the north part of Nicosia and cross to the south part to take the other car

Do you think is sensible or I'm talking nonsense?
Anybody can advise a couple of place to sleep in the north part? I don't want to move every night, I'd rather choose a couple of places to use as a starting point for days trips
We are looking for lovely beaches but also for sightseeing
As for the south I tought of spending a week in erimi because I like this place

Is it a good idea or better choose another place?

Thanks in advance to everybody

Last I knew foreigners cannot spend the night in the north after getting there via the south (Republic of Cyprus). I believe it's day trips only still, and you need to get back by a certain time (although I think it's quite late now).

If you enter northern Cyprus directly from overseas then you can't get into the southern part.

The increase of freedom of movement between the 2 parts in recent years has largely been just for Cypriots.

Hi we now live in north cyprus and you can travel freely to the south and visa versa Stay is lmited to three months in the north, you collect you visa as you cross the border.Car hire can cross both ways if you purchase insurance at border, but i think best to do as you sugested. There are many hotels in kyrenia and this is the best place for visiting the rest of the north

enjoy.

Really? That's great if so - things are really moving forward in Cyprus! Has this come about since the new president in the Republic?
