We are travelling down to Malaysia by bus from Krabi on the 24th of july...We are just wondering which coast to head for east or west ...We are looking for really nice beaches.... will be there for three weeks just a bit worried about the monsoon!!!! please help us any advice will be a great help...
Head to the east coast. The islands there are much better than on the west (not that the west is bad though). Don't miss the Perhentian Islands. It's a very good time to visit now and the north-east monsoon season doesn't start until November. It's the south-west monsoon now which doesn't affect the west coast islands because it's "protected" by Sumatra.
Check out the Malaysia travel guide for more info.
I would agree with Hien - the Perhentian islands are gorgeous. They are a really nice, chilled out place to hang out for a while.
Id go to Langkawi and Penang... But whether its East or West, I have yet to know.
I've only been to KL and Borneo.
I'd recommended that you travel to the east coast where there are a lot of pristine island there. Other than Perhentian Island, you can also visit the Redang Island, Tioman Island, Sibu Island...
But if your trip is short, preferably that you enjoy either Perhentian or Redang Island..
I went to the West coast and enjoyed Penang and Langkawi, but I don't think they compared to, say, islands in Thailand for tropical beauty. If I went back to Malaysia I would give the Perhentians and Tioman a try.
The East Coast Islands of course.....Perhentian and Redang Islands are better than those in the west.....Monsoon is over......
The sea of Redang is beautiful
