jennymc has indicated that this thread is about Costa Rica

Hi there,

I'm going travelling with friends to Chile in February and we are considering hiring a car. Do you know how safe this is? What are the roads like etc?

Any help at all would be great as I have not driven abroad before and am a bit nervous!

i'd driven early of this year both north and south.
if you are in the Pan-americana high way, it'll be no problem but if you go to South,
like Tierra del Fuego and Tores del pine, there're lots of bumpy road.
but generally road conditions are fine even in the unpaved road.

Driving manner is the best both Centeral and South America.

Good luck!

If you're going any where in Latin America BEWARE you will encounter some of the nuttiest, craziest and sometimes funniest drivers in the world!!!! It's something though how it all makes sense in a non-sensical way. It's really odd how everything is crazy but its not like every one is smashing into one another. Its really kinda fun driving where there are no lanes and few laws!
HAVE FUN!!!

Pura Vida,
