Travelling by train around Eastern Europe

Travel Forums Europe Travelling by train around Eastern Europe

Hi, I know there are a lot of threads about this but none that seem to resemble the route me and my friends plan to take. We are thinking about taking this route (roughly):

Prague > Krakow > Warsaw > Minsk > Kiev > North of Romania > Belgrade > Budapest

Not sure if anyone's done any of these journeys and if they could give advice about buying in advance or whether to buy interrail passes, or if there's a better route to take. We're going for 4-6 weeks.

it's not essential to book in advance.
train tickets aren't expensive. But if you travel during 4-6 weeks, you should take an interrail pass (is there an interrail pass which allows you to get Belarus or Ukraine ?)

I've done the first portion of your trip, from Prague to Krakow and on to Warsaw and I never bought a ticket in advance. I also second the advice to buy an eurail pass if that fits your time frame and if they still offer the Eastern European one, it most certainly saves you money in the long run.
