We are doing a RTW and will be doing 2 months in Africa ending in Egypt and then travelling to India for a month. We are looking for a beach or island to relax on for about 5-7 days with a comfortable room. Something to break up the hectic travelling and just relax. Any suggestions on maybe an island or beach in India or somewhere in between Egypt and India that would not be super expensive but would be decent accommodations, and some sand to chill on? We thought Dubai, but heard it is crazy expensive. It will be around August 1.
Any thoughts, advice or reccommendations will be appreciated. Thanks alot, Stouds.
India's got lots of beaches. Goa has to biggest selection in a small area and you can find whatever style of accomodation you are looking for for very cheap. I also like some of the beaches in Kerela, such as Varkala.
Do some research on the weather though, I don't think August is the best time to be on the beaches in India because of the monsoon.
1) Dahab in the Sinai (Egypt). This is close to Sharm El Sheikh, but cheaper and considerably more relaxed. It's got a great vibe to it, with good windsurfing, diving, snorkeling ...but overally just a very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended.
2) Oman. I actually havent been here, but I've heard the beaches are excellent. Would be a cheaper and less urbane alternative to Dubai.
3) Goa. As the previous poster suggests, this would be an ideal place to fly into in India before heading forth to busier parts. Yes the monsoon is not the ideal time, but you should get a decent number of sunny days in.
