I would like to visit the Park next summer...what is the best time to visit the Park....summer or the fall??? I will be travelling alone..are there tour groups that I can join .what places must I visit......i plan to fly to Jackson Hole which is said to be near to the Park...any suggestions or recommendations....would be appreciated.
My suggestion: always summer time!
It's high altitude and weather gets cold and bad easily, I'm not sure but fall colours are not so impressive over there.
Can't miss old faithful, mammoth hot springs and many more natural attractions!
Best time to visit is the summer, Yellowstone closes it's East, South and West Entrances during the winter. There are several tour groups that take you in the park, I believe you can call (307) 344-7311 to make a rerservation
We used to live near the Montana entrance of Yellowstone. I always preferred going to the park in fall. The crowds are much smaller then and trying to drive through the park in summer can be maddening. In fall you also have a better chance of having some attractions to yourself, or at least not having to stand behind rows of people. Also, the Elk are in rut in the fall and you will see large herds of them together and hear bull elk bugling. As for things to do, there are so many, Yellowstone is very large. Old faithful of course, Yellowstone falls, Glory pond. There are also many attractions that you can hike to. Here is a site with some great info on Yellowstone and Yellowstone activities www.greatwildlifevacations.com Hope this helps you.
