hey all.

i know there are a few travel passes such as euro rail, euro star for the trains to go around europe. but are there any other trains services besides these 2 famous ones?

Eurostar= name of a train running under the English Channel, connecting London with Paris and Brussels, also name of a set of fast trains in Italy.

Eurail pass= name of a special set of tickets that are only available to tourists from outside of Europe. Eurail passes are sold by the Eurail Group. This is a cooperation between 30 European Railways.

If travelling by train in Europe you got the option of either buying a Eurail pass or buying point-to-point tickets from the various national and local train companies. What works out cheaper depends on where you travel to and for how long.

See http://www.eurail.com/ and http://www.ricksteves.com/rail/rail_menu.htm for more information

Then you need to buy point-to-point. Go to http://www.voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/launch/home/ to find connections and tickets.

You can also buy the ticket in Paris on the day you arrive, there is no need to pre-book. Just note that if you pre-book you can get discounts, especially when you travel with TGV train.
