I have been backpack searching for the last month or so now and have at least decided that a travelpack is better suited for my trip reading through forums.
I am going away for 4 months around south east asia and a month in oz & nz and am undecided on what size pack I need.
I recently visited a camping shop and was thinking of going for the karrimor global 50-70. Does anyone who owns this pack think it was too big for their travels?? Personally I thought perhaps it was a little on the large side but this is my first trip so am just being really indecisive!
I think 40L-50L sack would be more comfortable to carry around.. but is that too small? What size would you go for on a 5 months trip?? Thanks
When i travelled SA for 4 months i took a 65L rucksack, it was probably too big looking back on it. I suggest a 60L backpack.
The problem with the smaller ones is that you normally end up filling them to the brim, and then when you want to bring stuff back with you (presents etc), you have no space left in your pack!
i agree. i bought a 70L one two years ago, by accident (long story). it's so big - i mean, i can fill stuff in and there's more room, but it really needn't be so large. i've heard of people that can fit themselves into 50L's, as well. so 60L sounds nice to me..at least it's smaller and a bit easier to manage!
All this time I have thought what I need to be taking and had totally been oblivious to what i need to be bringing back! Presents will no doubt need to be purchased and I think 60L would probably be about right (great shout!)
Thank you for your help and solving my backpack size dilemma, I shall go buy my 60L today
