Well not quite...

I have to travel to Delhi for work at the end of august. I will arrive on Saturday morning and have a few days before starting work on Tuesday. My work will be in Gurgaon so I am going straight there from landing in Delhi. My work ends on Thursday and I will then have until the following Saturday until I fly out of Delhi.

Can anyone suggest what the essentials I try and cover are? I want to get to the Taj Mahal and someone suggest I make my way to Goa, but since I have such a short time I am not sure it is viable that I try cover that much ground.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Lucky you! You will have a wonderful time in India. I have been once, but unfortunately never traveled to Delhi. I have, however, been dreaming of returning for some time now, and found a great site that has some very helpful, high-quality videos about India, including Delhi. Here's a link to that page:

Hope it's of use to you! Happy travels!

Hi Mark,

Once ur finished with Delhi, u can even visit Agra as a single day trip from Delhi, u can leave early in the morning, visit the Taj and Agra fort and return back to Delhi.

then u can consider visiting Mumbai(U can take the superfast Rajdhani trains to save time), spend a couple of days in Mumbai before proceeding to Goa which is an overnight train journey from Mumbai.

I believe this much can be easily done with the time that u have in hand. do let me know if u need any more info:)

wish u all the best

cheers
arif

I won't recommend you to travel to goa becuase u will spend most time in travelling. In delhi you could try Akshardham in New Delhi , Sikh temple Bangla sahib located near new delhi railway station.I would higly recommedn you to try going to jaipur as it only take abot 5 hours and the delhi jaipur highway is one the best in India. One day trip to agra leave abot 6 in the morning will be there by 11 AM and then you have full day to travel to Taj mahal and red fort will be abck to delhi in the evening. Any more information needed please let me know. :)

Hi Mark,
Here is an itinerary for you.

Saturday- landing at Delhi. Since you are landing at morning, you can look around in the city itself.
Sunday & Monday - A trip to Agra & Jaipur combined. You can cover Taj Mahal, Agra fort & Fatehpur Sikri and then proceed to Jaipur, the pink city. See Hawa mahal and other places. If you are interested in typical markets of India, there are many in both the places.
Tuesday to Thursday - Work
Friday - Get a guided tour to see Delhi. Delhi is full of places to visit. One day is not sufficient if you really want to 'see' it. Make sure to cover Akshardham, red fort, Qutub Minar, India gate, Chandni Chowk.. in fact all major historical places.

It'll be hot in August so you might want to take breaks in between. Keep some of the places for saturday.
There won't be enough time to visit Goa. I had been to Goa for 10 days and it wasn't sufficient for me. :)

If you need any more help, feel free to contact me.

Cheers !

Hi Mark,

As Kuko already suggested you the better option I just like to add something more in it
Here is an itinerary for you.

Saturday- landing at Delhi. Since you are landing at morning, you can look around in the city itself.

Sunday & Monday - Depart in the early morning so that you will be at Agra around 9.00 AM. You can cover Taj Mahal, Agra fort & Fatehpur Sikri and then proceed to Jaipur, the pink city. See Hawa mahal, palaes and other places. If you are interested in typical markets of India, there are many in both the places.

Tuesday to Thursday - Work

Friday - Get a guided tour to see Delhi. Delhi is full of places to visit. One day is not sufficient if you really want to 'see' it. Make sure to cover Qutub Minar,Lotus temple,Birla temple ,Jantar mantar, Akshardham, red fort, India gate, Chandni Chowk.. in fact all major historical places.

It'll be hot in August so you might want to take breaks in between. Keep some of the places for saturday,You can spned some night life at connaught place areas and have dinner there or in Pandara road.
There won't be enough time to visit Goa and its rainy season there even most of the beaches arre closed this time due to flood like situation.Mumbai is good city but I don't think you are here to see just city life.....and you don't have time for it as well.

If you need any more help, feel free to contact me.

Cheers !

Harry,
One point to note...

You have copied the whole of my suggestion and added tit-bits here & there (which are negligible) in the same text & font which is confusing instead of helping.

My suggestion to all is to use a different color/font/line if possible to show changes.

Anyway, skuz would already be in Delhi by this time.

I hope Harry keeps this in mind from next time

Initially i thought it was something new but a closer look revealed that Harry was using Kuku's words.

Thanks for all the recommendations all.

I am India at the moment and already my rough itinerary has changed

Have spent most of my time at my hotel in Gurgaon, since the trains aren't that accessible from here I spent sunday on a Delhi tour.

Thinking of Japuir on Friday and then winging it from there. I have already met some amazing people and everyone seemd all to eager to help and tell me where i should be going.

I shall post some photos and where I went when the trip is done.

Thanks again.
