So has anyone here every rented scooters in Italy? I want to rent a scooter for along the Amalfi Coast and I am wondering how much this could cost, where I can find these rental places, and how your experience was. Thanks!

My friend--who's a cowboy driver--tried to rent a scooter in the Amalfi coast. The guy came up to our hotel, had her zip around a bit, and declared he was not going to rent her anything. It seems it's not the place to start learning how to drive a scooter. In broken English, he said "Many American and Canadian... how you say... squish-squish!!"

The road along the coastline is steep with very sharp turns and the Italians drive like maniacs. We stuck to the car and the bus.

And how right the rental guy must have been...

Seriously, Italian driving makes it dangerous enough to be on the road in a car, let alone on a scooter that offers virtually no protection in a crash. I think you better reconsider, and stick to renting a car which in Italy isn't that expensive.

I'm not agree, if you are cautious it's ok for rent a scooter in Italy.
You need to drive like us, even if you are in car or in a scooter.

If you are going in the south be vigilant, because if you stop in a intersection you make a accident.
So you must like their.
