Reminds me of the time I was at a hockey game and THERE HE WAS....A STREAKER!!!

He was a'runnin' across that ice wearing nothin' more than his sneakers..I noticed they were Reebock's..... and a cowboy hat!

I turned to Sue and yelled.." DON'T LOOK SUE!!!"

It was too late....

I saw the title of the post and instantly though "feck me, i haven't heard the Streak in ages". Then opened it fully expecting it to be about some other new/young/cool Ray Stevens. Now, i just feel a little bit nostalgic and very old!

I really enjoy Ray Stevens music. "It's me again, Margaret" is a favourite and, of course, "Sittin' up With the Dead."

As for feeling old, and all, you're "Maturing." See, the way I see it, if ya wake up in the morning you're ahead of the game. Forget the aches and pains...That's signs of "maturing."..You know, like a steady, "mature" oak tree.

So what if ya can't stand up straight in the morning 'cause your back is sore.

Eventually, like in a couple of hours, you'll be moving around REAL good! Yea, and you'll start lookin' at your woman with that certain twinkle in yer eye...And then you'll try to remember WHY yer lookin' at her like that..Oh, yea...Yer lookin' forward to breakfast..Yea, that's it..She's a REAL good cook...

Then ya head off to the computer to write in this forum. 'Course THEN ya forget yer password, stare at the screen for a time, say to heck with it and hide from the Wife in case she wants ya to do work, like maybe hard physical stuff...dusting or going to the mall.....

Anyway, it's time for my nap. Geez, I hope I wake up, again, if not.....

Rich, one of the last things I want to hear from you is about feeling old.
Chayisun is right - it's maturing. Okay, more quickly then some of us would like, but still maturing. Oaks live a good long time. Maybe even 30-40 years, so you may have 2 or 3 left in you (if you're pushin' for 40).

Ray Stevens is always entertaining. I actually have a fondness for Gitarzan, though I don't exactly know why. He's going to be at the Crystal Palace Theater in Wisconsin Dells in October. Oooohh, there's a casino right down the road. I think I see a road trip... Then again, will have to break out the penny jar and see if we have enough gas money. Probably not...

As a friend of ours says, "If you wake up in the morning and the the grass is green, you're on the right side of life. If it's brown, you're 6 feet under. Yeah, works well for him - he lives in Florida. What if it's white? Does that mean I'm already in heaven or hell has frozen over? (Just covering both bases here.) I hate people who live in southern states where the grass is always green - but only because I can't afford to move there and share that lovely experience. Though, they don't get the luxury of waking up all winter long and thinking hell has frozen over.

Today, I turned 55. The doc gave me a clean bill of health this morning. I think I'll go put on some Ray Stevens, streak around the yard (closest neighbor is half a mile away) and drink martinis. Hopefully, I won't find any road kill to bury and we can play Gitarzan, swinging from the trees by guitar strings. Oooh, sounds fun.

Chayisun - click the "remember me" button when you log in and you won't have to worry about that pesky password for about 10 days. Then the cookies run out and you have to go buy more - chocolate chip with pecans are good. I'll take a dozen, please.

Remember me? There's a button to push to remember who I am? Well, Ok...I'll push the button but, well, I DO know who I am....Most of the time....

Birthday, huh...Did you know that, if you were here during the Pleistocene epoch era you'd be deceased..No longer here...Gone to that great cave in the sky....'Cause those folks died early....Like, probably eaten by a sabre toothed tiger.....

Happy Birthday....And, when ya run through the garden, throught the flowers, around the pansies, as it were, don't go near the poison ivy....

Ray Stevens and the Shriner's..classic.....

Sorry, already got "stung" by the nettles trying to feed the spider in the window sill a couple of almost dead flies. Hey, the flies landed where they weren't suppose to land and the (almost) got crunched before lunch.

Thank you for the birthday wishes and thankfully, I live in the here and now. They let me live as long as I want - sort of. I'm tryin' to make it to 108.

Ooooh, I smell fried chicken on the stove. Okay, might bring it down to 107 but I can live with that. I like Beerman's homemade fried chicken.

Okay - got me with the Shriners too. Have to attend the Mendota, Illinois sweet corn festival next weekend and the Shriners riding their cycles, cars and little airplanes are a big draw.
