i am 23 gonna be 24 in march. i have recently broken up from a relationship and have decided to start travelling. i've just come back from 6 weeks in the states and am now looking to head to Australia for about a year, then from there...where-ever the weather takes me. i was looking at flying to Oz at the beginning of October, but after recent descussions with friends i am giving thought to the idea of driving from england to bangcock (however you spell it,) then getting a boat across. basically i just wanna get away from the every day hum drum of life in london and get to see some of what the world has to offer, and push myself into some real adventures along the way! if your interested in coming along for a while, or meeting with me at anystage in the future, drop me a line! Cheers Rob Latest INFO: i'm definatly set on driving now and plan to leave london around the second week in october, my journey will take in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan??, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar,Laos, Thailand and possibly Singapore!! so if you want a lift or fancy joining me for all/ some of the journey (even sharing petrol costs/driving?) get in touch!

OMG that all sounds wicked, I would have joined you on road trip but bought my rtw ticket a few weeks ago but, can def meet up along way as i'm heading to bangkok on 1st dec until 20th then heading to sydney from there - although I have various stops to make am sure that'll all change depending on what i want to do and the people i meet.

Keep intouch and hopefully hook up at some point ...

That sounds very cool. Would be well up for it if had two pennies to rub together. What's your budget like? you planning on working while there?

have you read 'the wrong way home' by peter moore - it's about his overland trip from london to sydney.

Good luck, am very envious, and if you or anyone else is planning this type of trip for like 3 months time (when I mite have some dosh) let me know!;)

Hi Rob, can't help with a companion, but just to say best wishes and good luck to you!
I'm also currently planning a land trip to NZ (and then continue rtw if possible) which will probably follow much of the same route, although i'm now liable to be doing it solo/pub trans rather than driving as was the original plan, as having my own transport seemed to restrictive and overly expensive in some areas due to their odd rules/ideas. But now nott likely to be leaving before next Feb/Mar ish time in any case.
If it helps, i've done large chunks of the trip as far as Afghanistan-ish, so if you've any questions, may be able to help.

btw, kathy, agree wrong way home is a great book!
