Greetings!

http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=42098

In a recent topic we talked about islands in the South Pacific (Tahiti, Fiji, etc.). Tahiti islands (Bora Bora, Moorea, etc.) have the most beautiful scenic beaches. I prefer Fiji. Fiji islands offer a nearly comparable island paradise and is less expensive. People speak French on the Tahiti islands. There is minor regional conflict among people on Fiji islands.

I have read good reviews on islands in the Caribbean including Anguilla and U.S. Virgin Islands (St. John). What is the overall best island destination in the Caribbean? Comparable to islands in South Pacific?

You might find this article interesting, about rating of islands by national geographic traveler. Of course, still opinion, but at least criteria have been used.
Then again, people might be totally overwhelmed positively by Charlotte Amalie on Saint Thomas, while others are depressed by the nature on Dominica because they want beaches.

Personally, I have no idea what the best island is, because I have been only to Cuba. The smaller islands I am most attracted to include Dominica, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Anguilla, Anegada, Barbuda, Montserrat, Bonaire and the Grenadines. And less attracted to islands like Aruba, Sint Maarten, Saint Lucia and Saint Thomas.

I enjoy swimming at beautiful beach under clear blue water. Its water is so clear you can see the shadow of things reflected from sunlight under water. The ocean is beautiful especially around sunrise and sunset.

great restaurants opening and new developments. we are seriously considering buying a winter home in Grenada. I have never been to a place where the people are so helpful and friendly.
Me and my wife would recommend to speak with Grenada Info and Activities .com They can give you any info on the island you want, without you having to go and e-mail everybody.
I hope this helps.
Unfortunately we have to wait until January, before we get to enjoy the island again. Cheers

Caribbean has islands that attract many types of travelers. The responses are diverse as to the best islands based on the description. Photos of some of these islands are more helpful, and among them the most notable are of Anguilla, Grenadines, Turks & Caicos, and U.S. Virgin Islands. The best option to travel the Caribbean is via cruise.

Almost all the most notable islands are located somewhere in the middle of the Caribbean. Geographically, one would think the most isolated is best. (This is especially true with Fiji and Tahiti in the South Pacific.)

I've never been to Grenada or Fiji but both are on my list of places to go. Cuba & Aruba are nice. I mostly liked Cuba since it still has retained the culture and the people are friendly. The beaches are beautiful. And, we always like to go to Havana in the evenings for a nice dinner and music. Also, its nice to look at the old vintage American cars that are nice preserved and the old buildings and architecture.
