i know there are a million other threads on money needed for trips, but i couldn't find an up-to-date answer...
i'm going to oz in sept, for 3 months - non-working visa.
i'll have £3000, or AU$6200
what does everyone reckon?
this is naturally to cover...pretty much EVERYTHING (except return flights to/from oz, got them!)
but it'll have to cover the basics: transport, accommodation, food and also any activities i wanna do (which i haven't thought of yet! but i've read can be relatively expensive, skydiving and the like...)
in theory i can take a further AU$2000, but i kinda need to leave that money at home to service debts while i'm away.
any advice - as always - hugely appreciated!

I travelled oz from Cape Tribulation all the way down the coast to near Adelaide almost 2 yrs ago on my own at 20 and I spent about £1,000 a month and did everything I wanted to do. You will have no probs on that budget!
Have a good time and if by any chance you end up staying, I am travelling US, South America, Canada, New Zealand and Fiji starting Oct this year then back to Oz to work for a bit so if you fancy a drink or need any other advice let me know!
Most people think £1000 a months is OK
But £1000 two years ago would of got you $2600+ now it gets you $2100 or even less
My biggest tip would be try to put some money aside for activites like fraser island, sailing whitsundays etc instead of trying to pay out of your planned daily spend
