Hey All. We are travelling from kuala Lumpur to Bangkok. We found flights on air aisia for RM 200 per person one way. Just wondering how much we would save if we get the bus or train instead...

Thanks a lot

Average......KL - Hatyai = Rm57++ by train on sleeping booth...... and from Hatyai - Bkk = RM60++ by bus.... after all, travelling overland is cheaper than flight....

How much would it cost for the train from Hat Yai to BKK?

A lot of the time it works out a lot cheaper getting buses and trains as they mostly tend to go into the centre of the city. Whereas airports are a bit further out. Think it's, 500 Baht from BKK airport into BKK as aposed to 60-100 Baht in a Tuk Tuk/taxi from the train station.

Train from Hatyai to Bkk is around 945Baht (Lower Sleeping Booth)... Depends on which train you are going to take. Express or not. From the airport to Bkk city is just 150Baht by Airport Express.

I am a Malaysian, from KL to Thailand border with bus= approximately 8 haours.....is a long hours, if I were u, I would chose bus if i m not in tight schedule, by bus u able to see the surrounding view of paddy field, mountain and etc. Places you will go through is: KL - Selangor (Tanjung Malim, Slim River etc..) - Ipoh (U will see mountain there along the highway) - Taiping - Kedah (Paddy fields) - Perlis - Bukit Kayu Hitam / Changlun( Thailand borders), in short you can see lots of things.

If you had a tight schedule, take flight.

by the way, just to add a bit..for a nature lover, you would appreciate a view of waterfall from the highway...if not mistaken, it would be somewhere near Ipoh..or Tapah along the route to the northern peninsula...just share something i appreciate :D

If you have the time and go sightseeing while at it, take the bus... But personally, I'll stick with taking AirAsia due to the fact that when I travel from KL to BKK, I'm always on a tight schedule! Would love it though if sometime I have the time again to go thru land...
