My husband and I are planning to travel to Turkey in September of this year. In light of the bombings and other events happening recently, should we cancel our trip?

Hi..
I'd like to say a couple of things about Turkey, since I've been living in Istanbul for a long time, I think I am a suitable person to answer this.
The recent bombings happened in a very out-of-town part of Istanbul, which I doubt if any tourists have stepped on anytime since the founding of the neighborhood. Bombings and other stuff are not common here - it is just out of the ordinary. Central areas where both the foreign and local tourists flock - the security is much more than some of the major airports of the world. All the system is monitored and such an attack is apperantly not possible in crowded areas - this is why those foul terrorists chose a suburban district that is not as monitored for safety as the centre of the town. So I should say, if you are planning to visit Istanbul this September, I am sure all will be fine. The weather will be good, it won't be chilly or rainy, and muc of the crowd would be little more settled down and prices are lower than the august. If you were still thinking of coming here this september, it's a good time to visit.. Will you be coming to Istanbul?

Guys, If you have anything else to ask, I'm glad to asnwer your questions and offer you free guidance service as much as I can :) .
Happy travels

Istanbul is fine. Bombings are everywhere really. I feel safer in turkey than I do in America.

The most dangerous part of a trip to Turkey is travelling by road. The drivers are truly shocking and there are always accidents. A bomb blast would truly be the last of my worries.

I have been to Turkey twice; once as a child and again as an adult and I can thoroughly recommend it.

yeah crossing a street in Istanbul is far more dangerous than any bomb. I dont understand how people can drive there.

Don't cancel your trip. It's very unlikely that you'd get caught up in any incident in Istanbul. Looking back over the list of incidents on the FCO website it would appear that no tourist has ever been killed by a terrorist bomb in Turkey.
