Hello,

From what I can tell, there is no place that lists the hotels in the city, but I live here, so it's been a long time since I've had to look for a hotel, lol.

When I first came here, I stayed at the Hotel Coronado Suites, which was beautiful, 4 stars and very affordable. But that was in 2005 and prices have a tendancy to increase dramatically these days. They're website says $340 (which may mean 340 Bs and not dollars, you never know) for a single room, but they're never accurate. The location is great. Very central, and in a decent area (the north end of av. bolivar - Guaparo) Your best bet is to call. 58 241 820 7000 www.hotelcoronadosuites.com

A friend of mine recommends the Hotel el Emperador. Im not exactly sure where it is, but I believe it is also, like so many things, off of av. bolivar... the "main drag" of Valencia. Their prices seem reasonable... 260.00 Bs.F for a double room. (120USD) You can call them at 58 241 858 2433 www.hotelemperador.com

There is also the Guaparo Hotels (Hotel Guaparo Inn and Hotel Guaparo Suites) One of them (Inn) is located in Naguanagua, which is still really convenient to Valencia. Only 2 minutes down the road, give or take, lol. The other, is located near the redoma de guaparo, which is on the far north end of av. bolivar, and the beginning of av. universidad. Im not sure what their prices are like these days, but call them. Guaparo Suites: 58 241 825.05.22 or Guaparo Inn: 58 241 860.56.00. www.guaparohotels.com

There is always the famous Intercontinental Hotel, which has great concierge and services. Im not sure about their prices, as Ive only eaten dinner there. It's a GREAT hotel though, so call them if you can. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/intercontinental/en/gb/locations/overview/VLNHA

As far as staying in a hotel near the airport... I wouldn't recommend it. It's in a pretty bad, and isolated area. Taxis are never that expensive. I would say... maximum, you will be charged 50BsF to go to the main parts of town. I think. Thats about 23USD. Make sure to take the white and yellow official taxis, and not the unofficial ones (any random car with a plastic "taxi" sign hanging in the window") lol. Those hotels, particularly the intercontinental, may offer a shuttle service, so be sure to call.

Well, good luck! As a rule, remember you want to stay in the north end of the city. I hope I've helped! Any other questions, feel free to write of course.

Lexi

Thank you very much Lexi.

Your reply was certainly helpful. I think the tip about concentrating on the North End and not trying to get a hotel near the airport was very important. The tip about the taxi too is good.

Thanks once again.
