I was surprised to see that everything in UK is expensive, especially hotel, taxi, etc. etc.

We are 4 senior persons.

Taxi: $400
Rental car incl. gas, etc.: $350
National bus $48

I want to go to Southampton from London and Found out a cheap bus, National Express Coach.
However, this bus company had 2 big accident last year. If anybodym knows other bus company?

What about trains?

National Rail (London Waterloo station to Southampton Central station) - tickets from £28 (single).

have a look at megabus.com - they do very cheap bus tickets and do a london to Southampton route. I have used them a few times and they were fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about the National Express coaches. They have a really good safety record and I think the accident in January 2007 is the only time anybody has ever died on one.

Also - you've noted that the National Express bus service is $48, but this is the walk on fare. If you book in advance at http://www.nationalexpress.com/ the fare should be more like £5/$10.

Hi

National Express do a 'funfare' ticket online from London to Southampton that costs £5. You need to book online and its non refundable. Ive used this several times in the past, and they have a good timetable to choose from.
As for looking for another bus company i wouldnt bother, just stick with NE, even though their had couple of accidents, I think you'll find their safety record is extremely good

There's also http://www.megatrain.com/uk/ for cheap tickets from £1 on train - but you have to book in advance and be lucky..! These are just a carriage on the normal trains so no safety concerns - but I agree with everone else about national express - have used them a fair amount - always found them to reliable, comfortable enough and safe.
