Hey, I'm off travelling in about 6 weeks, mainly to Australia, I'll be in Oz for just under 7 months.

How old do you have to be to buy and drive a car over there?

I was going to get an ISIC card, but just read about the VIP card. Which do you think is better and why?

I'm flying out of Brisbane to New Zealand but may be travelling all the way up to Cairns, will the cheapest way to get back to Brisbane be a cheap internal flight, with the likes of Virgin Blue? Are there any other cheap internal flight companies?

Lastly, does anyone know of any links to flats that can be rented for short-term, like 4 weeks.

Luke :)

To buy and drive a car I think you have to be around 17 or 18.

Cheapest way from Carins to Brisbane might be virgin blue or try

dirving a car depends on the state. You can have your learners when you are 16 but need a licensed driver in the car with you. In my state you can get your probationary license (P's) when you are 16.5 but in other states like Victoria you can get your P's when you are 18. P's means that you can drive by yourself but aren't allowed any alcohol and have restrictions etc.

im not sure about buying a car, i guess if you get it insured and registered then it would be all cool!
