Cheapest place in SEA for Electronics? (mobile)

Travel Forums Asia Cheapest place in SEA for Electronics? (mobile)

Just wondering if anyone could let me know where the cheapest place in SEA is to buy a fairly decent mobile phone (tri band)?

I bought a cheap laptop in China, but most of the stuff over there was pricey.

BTW I am not looking for the counterfeit fake stuff. I know I can buy an I phone for about 40 Euro, but dread to think about the safety and health with the thing. Also they seem only to be dual band.

Thanks :)

as far as I know, the cheapest for any electronics that are guaranteed originals is in Singapore... you can visit Sim Lim Square or the Funan Mall...

Thanks. I had a friend go to Singapore but she found expensive phones over there too.

Anyone know is a 900/1800 gsm will work in South America? I see from the charts yes. If I by a dual band cheap fake Chinese I-phone and use handsfree then it might work out.

Thailand Vietnam, any cheap deals on those there?

I think malaysia is much cheaper then singapore. The cheapest place in singapore to Buy electronics is small shop called niranjans it is close to little india.I wont recommend Sim lin becuase u cant be assured of quality and they can be very rude at times :( However niranjans does not give GST slip which can be refunded at airport once u leave singapore :(

Hiya, Korea has an advanced phone network and a few large electronic markets in Seoul... in any case, can't you buy what your after on the net cheaper?

Thanks for the replies folks.

I am currently on the road and my old Motorola is starting to die.

I saw the razor 3 for sale, but it's too big. Lengthwise that is. And the samsung 250E looks too delicate. I wish Siemens ME45 was still around, it last me years on the road due to its rubber coating.

I will keep searching. At the moment a cheap knock off i-phone for around 30 Euro is what's coming up best. dual band, and small.

From my experience, Indonesia is the cheapest for mobile phones... And none of them are lock from the provider, so you're free to use anywhere in the world... I bought an E90 and my blackberry in Indonesia... It's really cheap here that everyone (I'm talking about everyone...) is using a mobile!

Argh.... It died... the motorola. Keeps discharging the battery and the back button doesn't work. No reason for it, well... other than what travel does to a phone.

I just bought the best packaged fake I-phone's(china phone) I could find. Fifty Euro. It's sitting there charging now. . . If no one hears from me by next week it'll be due to radiation poisoning or else microwaved brain cells

Thanks for all the help, I will be in all those countries mentioned, so I'll still check things out just for my own piece of mind... if I still have one
