Yay, Heather! Belfast has a medal--and is going for gold!

Also saw that the Olympic flame is lit at the Montreal Olympic Stadium. The stadium is so neglected and unused most of the time--it was nice to see part of it proud and spiffied up.

The counter on the CBC site puts Britain in 3rd (and Canada is tied for 12th place with the Netherlands with 13 medals--yayyy!!!!!).

Uhm, do they only count the total medals? As I just noticed Netherlands to be 12th and Canada 18th?

Dang--that was yesterday morning's count. Down to 18th now, indeed! We'll kick some Dutch butt yet! ;)

Jamaica kicked Canadian butt a few minutes ago. That Usain (Insane) Bolt just won gold with a world record, 0,02 sec faster than Michael Johnson!
Afghanistan is doing pretty good as well

Pfft--Canada wasn't even close to being in contention this year. Mind, Donovan Bailey is still the fastest man on record from the Atlanta games!

I love watching Usain Bolt run--it's like he's jogging while the rest are pumping away. He's some machine.

We're a big fan of the Jamacians. The best was the 100m womens....."I won gold!" "I won gold!" eeekkkkeee.... "I won gold!"

I should keep an eye on the news more - or maybe turn on the tv, listen to the news or read a paper!!!!

Now that the Olympics are over, it's kinda like that blue feeling you get coming back from a trip.

Always love the closing-day montages, though--so many wonderful moments that bring us all together. When else does the world come together for a love-fest in such a lovely way?
