Quoting Swept Away

I may go to Vang Vien tomorrow. But is there other then TUBING???

If accomodations (single rooms are cheap), I will stay longer. I will travel with friends. But they will go to LP. I am not interested in seeing monks and temples.

I think the 4,000 islands is great? you guys think so? Can I enter Thailand from that area south of Laos???

nope, not that much to do in Vang Vieng. You can go tubing and you can ride a bike to some caves. Other than that, that's pretty much it for Vang Vieng. It's very much a tourist orientated town, rooms are pretty cheap at around $4 for fan room. We only spent 2 nights there as we got bored.

Never been to 4,000 islands and I know people who both loved and hated it. I don't think you can reach Thailand from there, only Cambodia (with a pre-arranged visa)...maybe I'm wrong and someone else knows better?

THANKS,

so I'll go have a beer laos and think about it.

I think I wont love VANG VIEN... its a river? and tubing? cute, but not worth 400 baht for round trip bus tickets.

Just came back from Yogjakarta. When u are there, do not miss Prambanan, Hindu site (World Heritage), I enjoy it more than Borobudor.

although a site/city/area of Hindu temples rather than an actual monument, Ankhor Wat has got to be up there in the top 3....and I cant think what the other 2 would be.
