Hello all,

I'm going to be traveling to Amherst Ohio at the end of Sept this year to go see a friend. I need advice on cheap accommodations, Activities, any Golf Recommendations. What kinda inspection am I going to receive at the Canadian/US border. If you have traveled to the USA from Canada recently, can you still cross the border with a drivers license and birth certificate?

Any Suggestions would be good!

Thanks

N1Hawk

you definitely need a valid passport to cross the border. the rule was introduced last year.
it may take a while to apply and get your canadian passport (assuming you are Canadian), it's a good idea to start now. good luck!

I've been reading government sites all the time and it says the valid passport to get into the USA does not take affect until June 1 2009. 2 of my friends only have a drivers license and a birth Certificate which is what the government site says u need to go into the USA?

Anyone else know more about crossing the border? Coming from Canada to the USA?

You're right--new rules go into effect on June 1st of next year for Canadian residents.

Here's what you need to enter the U.S. Looks like you already found the info you needed! As for inspections, some cars are pulled over and thoroughly searched, some get by pretty quickly.

Also, as an FYI, if you're willing to pay for a quick turnaround, you can get your Canadian Passport in just a few days. Else it can take a few weeks.

What's the Quick Turn around option?

and Any Suggestion on Activities, golf, hotels near Amherst Ohio?

All fees/turnaround times are listed on the Canada Passport site. 24-hour turnaround is passport fee + $70 + tax. All the info you need to travel can be found on that site.

Sorry--never been to Ohio.
