Just a note for those travelling to or in London in the next few days. Maintenance workers are planning a strike, lasting from the 20th to the 23rd of August. For most lines this won't cause any disruption, but for the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, there could be delays or even cancellation of services.

Note that disruption on the Piccadilly line could be especially bad for travellers, as that is the tube line that services Heathrow airport. If there are disruptions, look at either bus or national rail services.

Keep an eye on the TFL website for the latest.

Good news, the strike has now been cancelled!

There should be no disruption to service... except for the usual signalling problems, train malfunctions, planned maintenance works, emergency maintenance works and other bits and bobs that cause disruptions. Well, you can't have everything.

The one and only time I went to London, we landed in the middle of a tube strike. What chaos! We walked forever to the dorn we wree staying at. Although, in retrospect, we did get to see a lot of London that way.

... and inconsiderate humans who fell onto the tracks, causing inconvenience and delays to tens of thousands of others instantly.

In my experience the Underground hasn't been too bad...just when you need it the most! Its never good for the multitude of lost foreigners who seem to mill around the stations looking baffled at the maps.

Seriously - train strikes, Underground drivers earn a fortune, its umbelievable. How selfish...
