Travel Forums Asia Penang to Indonesia to BORNEO???

You guys told me that a ferry from Penang can get me to Indonesia.

I forgot what island, Sulawesi?

But what if I want to reach Malaysian Borneo...

Actually I want to go to brune. i have been to LABUAN island in the past. But I didn't go to Brunei.

I can't take flights and I need to take the cheapest routes.

But I do want to get to Bali too. Is there a ferry from KL to BALI? or Langkawi to Bali.
Coz I cant go to Bali from Penang?

I don't mind going through SARAWAK, but if its cheaper to access Brunei from KALIMANTAN, Id like that.

I got to do some reading too. Someone just donated a guide book to me.

But I doubt if the answer to my question is in Lonely planet.

THANKS

Any ferry from the west coast of Malaysia will take you to Sumatra. I don't think there are ferries from the east coast to Borneo. Why can't you take flights? Air Asia fly to all your destinations pretty cheaply though, you should have a look at the website, it might actually be cheaper than travelling overland.

KL is not near the coast so there are no ferries which depart from KL. No ferries go from Langkawi to Bali either. I know there is a ferry once a week from Singapore that goes to Jakarta, but I am not sure what day or the cost etc...you could then travel overland and cross on the ferry to Bali.

singapore to Jakarta sounds good. But that could too expensive, compared to Penang to Sumatra.
Actually, I just want to set foot on all the East Asian Countries, before I head home.

I have been to Singapore and Malaysia, so I am not really interested in getting there again. My goal is to get to Indonesia through the cheapest routes.

Airasia? it could be cheaper than the bus? I thought so. I know that the bus from KK to Sandakan wasnt very cheap. If the bus rides are really expensive, Id probably be so pissed that I'll take a flight to China.

Does anyone know the current price of a bus from KK to Sandakan?
