Travel Forums Asia South thailand in October

I'm off to Thailand Oct 01 for 2 weeks and i'm unsure where to go as the weather may be not so good at this time!

I've already been to Koh samui in April 08 and also Dec 07 (love the Island), Is Phuket, pattaya or ko chang a better option at this time, or is the weather still crazy at this time also.

Off again on my own - so if anybody would like to meet up at this time this would also be great.

Thanks in advance

Anton

I have been in Pattaya during October lots of times, sure it might rain but it is rare that the rain lasts longer than an hour or two. Often the rain falls during the nighttime when you are sleeping too! There is plenty of sunshine for getting a tan or sunburn. Pattaya will be cheaper than Phuket for hotel prices. Cheaper transportation too on a baht bus (10 baht.)

Lots of bars, restaurants, malls, street vendors, travel agencies for tours, three movie theaters but the beach is not good for swimming. Foreigners swim at nearby Jomtien Beach (20 baht ride) or they use the pool at a hotel. Pattaya beach is good for walking, bars, restaurants, malls and sunbathing but foreigners go elsewhere for beach type swimming!

Only around 120 baht for a bus ride from the Ekamai bus terminal on Sukhumvit Road. Ekamai is right on a Skytrain stop. Bus will take around 2 hours. Make sure it is the 2 hour VIP bus not the bus that takes the long and slow route where you get to Pattaya 4 or 5 hours later. The slow bus is cold as the North Pole and no toilet! The Pattaya ticket window is on the right side of the terminal, not far from the steps.

In Pattaya get a hotel near Pattaya Second Road (Pattaya Sai Song) and you can walk to most places very easy. Probably between Central and the Royal Garden Plaza will be okay. Map: http://www.thaiwaysmagazine.com/pattaya_map/pattaya_map_pattaya.html

Good luck.

Hi Anton

Well i have been living and working in Thailand for some time and October is a great time to visit the west coast where i am based, Phuket.
If you are looking for somewhere busy with a lot of Thai nightlife then Patong is the place to go, but if you are looking for somewhere a bit quieter then try Karon or Kata which are on the south of Phuket.
Great beaches, clear water if you are looking at going scuba diving when you are here. There are lots of choices of accomadation from very cheap to 5 star. A great place to have a look at is www.phuketdir.com for more information.
I hope this helps.

Sanna.
