My boyfriend and i are leaving for south america in a few weeks to travel around South America. Roughly our plan is Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia then Peru, we're not on a strict time scale but we're thinking about 4/5 months....we're heading to NZ after that and have been looking at flights but they're all so flippin' expensive!
Just wondered if anyone had done the trip or if they had any advice?
The cheapest i can find it so far is if we go columbia-mexico-LA-Fiji-Aukland costing around £850 each.....It doesnt matter how we do it, bus, boat, flight etc or how long it takes just as long as its cheap!
Any suggestions welcome!
I spent about 7 months in South America a couple of years ago. I just flew into Lima on a one way ticket. Literally, just a few weeks before leaving I bought an online one-way ticket with Lan from Rio de J. to Auckland for about US$1300, which, at the time, equating to about €1,000. I had kept a very close eye on that airfare for months though, and it never really went up or down much below that figure.
So, I'd say, budget for in and around that figure, whatever it equates to in GBP.
Hope that helps!
Aerolineas Argentina do them a little less and its direct...
If you havent booked already, you can fly Madrid to Lima for 450euros with AirComet (id imagine the flights from UK to Madrid arent much these days)
I'm planning on going the other way & the cheapest ticket I found with a lot of searching was Aerolineas Argentinas Auckland > Buenos Aires cost me $1200 about 585 GBP
Hi, I got mine with LAN for about €700 (Santiago -> Aukland, Direct). Booked that about 3 months ago through Trailfinders.
