RULE OF THUMB...

NEVER BE DAUNTED BY OZ

NEVER DO OZ INTRO

FIND YOUR OWN FRIENDS AND DO IT ON YOUR OWN

NEVER BE SCARED OF ANYTHING

NEVER READ THE GUIDE BOOKS

DO IT YOURSELF!!!

6 months been here now with a very good job in Syd but sick of the sight of the city now and about to do the big year and half epic trip ina $1500 van actually seeing the country and avoiding young Gooned up travellers!!!

Lived by that rule and wish Lonely Planet et al and even websites like this didnt even exist cos they dont EVER prepare you for the ease that is getting your arse over to the easiest country to exist in in the damn world!!!

I used this website much like you in the scared weeks before arriving and now pretty much forget it exists and half the time just scares people...just get here, be a big grown up person, keep your eyes open to experience and dont just hang with young Brits on the East Coast trail 24/7 and you will have a damn ball!!!

Sounds like good advice....well apart from the oz intro thing because I've already paid for it!

Its nice to hear from someone whos already done it though...pretty much winging it after the first weeks out of the way so could be interesting!

I am looking forward to it but I don't think it will dawn on me until I got a few days to go...basically thought about travelling for ages but its only been over the last couple of months where I thought sod it! If I don't do it now I never will.
Thanks for making me feel a bit better about it!

What do you do in Sydney?
