i am travelling to Northern and Western Europe in Nov for a month. i am just wondering if i should bring along my bag or just a simple sheet? i will be staying in hostels the whole trip, but i don't want to risk bed bugs. any input would be grand. thanks.
I was in Italy/Greece for a month last June/July. Brought a silk liner bag and didn't use it once. All the hostels were clean. I ran into 2 bedbugs crawling up the wall in an Athens hostel but I don't think I got bit. I told the management and they steamed my area and gave me new sheets. Stayed in a hut on the beach in Mykonos and got a lot of mosquito/spider bites but I'm not sure sleeping in the bag would have helped that any. I'd say if you are staying in modern cities and pick decent hostels you shouldn't need your own bed stuff. Frankly, if a place had bedbugs, I wouldn't really want to potentially pack them in with my stuff when I leave anyway.
Ide take a sleeping bag!!
November in northen europe will be very cold, plus if you get to hot you can throw it off you and use it like s sheet.
Although most modern hostels supply approprite bedding for the time of year, (you'd think and hope).
Hope this helps...
