I am looking at a Dragoman overland from Mumbai to Kathmandu and was wondering if anyone had done such a trip and could provide some insight? Anything you can tell me about weather, the overland journey, accomodations, weather, etc. would be really helpful. Even general recommondations about overland travel vs. independent travel in India would be helpful as I begin to plan for this big trip! The tour starts Jan. 15, 2009 for 4.5 weeks. Thanks!

Have you booked already ? Looks like your first. It sure is a fun filled & adventurous way to see places. Your major chunk of travel route is in India, would be fun if you are a first timer here. But to see the real India, one shouldn't go on a pre-defined route as overlanders take us.

Well, the best is to ask your agents with whom you've booked. They provide all the necessities but you won't be getting many a comforts. At many places you'll be surprised or even shocked to see very different things including European toilets. Yes, that's what it is called in India.

In Jan, Mumbai would be fine but Nepal would be cold.

Hope some of the queries are satisfied. :)
