Looking to travel Bangkok to Singapore (or vice versa). Want to see as much as possible in 2 - 3 months, including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo.

Any suggestions on a route? I'd rather go overland/boats as much as poss to see as much of the scenery as possible!

Thanks:

H

3 months is the bare minimum you would need to see all those countries and it will still be quiet rushed. If you have any less I would say start picking and choosing your priority countries and drop a couple. The route through Indochina is pretty straight forward and well trodden. Head East from Bangkok to Angkor to Phnom Pehn, unto HCMC up through Vietnam to Hanoi, down into Laos, over to Chaing Mai, and back down to Bangkok. Or vice versa of course. From Bangkok to Singapore is just a straight line, hitting points of interest along the way. Borneo would require a flight, most likely from KL, but probably also Bangkok or Singapore.

Dave is right. You simply do not have enough time for this itinerary. VN alone takes 3 weeks to travel from HCMC to HaNoi or the reverse. Thailand is huge and you will need 3-4 weeks just trying to visit the main cities and the beaches. Even if you only allow 1 week for Cambodia and 1 week for Laos, you will have no time left for Malaysia, Singapore and Borneo. You need to decide what countries you want to focus on. If Borneo, Malaysia & Thailand are your top priorities, then drop VN, Laos & Cambodia. If Thailand, Laos, VN & Cam. are your top choices, drop Malaysia, Singapore & Borneo. I would make this decision before going much farther with your trip planning. Good Luck.

Stop by Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on your way down to Singapore :) I might be able to help out on the route here.
