Hi,

Myself and my girlfriend are off for a year, we are going to:

USA
canada
Peru
NZ
aus
Singapore
Thailand
Vietnam
Cambodia
Borneo
India
Nepal

We have been researching which rucksack fits our needs the best and been to all the major high street camping shops, we have also trawled the net and this forum and finding quiet a mixed responce.

We don't have loads of available cash so we were drawn to the Regatta Survivor Endure 65 Rucksack.
Are the Regatta's any good?

Some people say 60 is best and others 45, we arnt camping but staying at hostels?

Going for a year we want something that's strong, im not worried by frills i just dont want straps snapping or zips breaking.

And what size can we get away with, the smaller the better im thinking but as we are going for a year, wont we need the extra space of a 60?

We appreciate comfort is very important and we wont buy till we can try one out, but just wondered if anyone can help us with any suggestions?

Cheers ;)

Hi,

My fiance and I are about to embark on a year trip to similar places as you. I've chosen the Women's Verden 45+8 and my fiance has the North Face Terra 60. We were looking for ages for smaller bags that we found comfortable, but even with weights in these two were the most comfortable - and don't seem huge. It's definately a good idea to go to as many outdoor shops as possible and try on all the different bags - preferably with weights in. From what most people say you can get away with 30-45litre, but really go for what fits well. We are also taking an SLR camera so needed some extra space for that!

Good luck choosing!
