Sometimes the instructions aren't very clear. This poor lady caertainly didn't understand them.

It could be she wanted to alone. What better place to be then in baggage.

Nobody to bother you, and she would be surrounded by other old bags...I mean luggage.

Oh, no! The poor woman!

I guess if you've never travelled before and watched too many silly airport comedies, you can be forgiven for messing that one up. You'd think someone would have tried to tell her not to get on!

Talk about confusion, I recall a trip to Hong Kong when a little old lady, must have been about 80 or so, passed through customs, got out into the airport and we saw her go BACK into customs through the doorway which stated, in English DO NOT ENTER...Talk about a Laurel and Hardy moment.

We told the tour guide, who couldn't find this woman when he counted heads, that this woman had gone through the "Illegal Doors"...The custom's agents were trying to locate this little old lady, the police were called..She had vanished, it appeared.

After about a half hour of mayhem, with people running around nattering in English and Mandarin, the little old lady was located..In the coffee shop having breakfast...

Our tour guide was not amused......You can imagine how the custom's folks felt and the police....As for the little old lady, they put a bell on her....

My father passed away this summer at 87 years old. He had Alzheimer's for the last 10 years and he did some illogical things as well. They are just not firing on all cylinders. Luckily, this lady was not injured.

Sorry to hear that Mike.

It's interesting that when we hear stories like that we think "for goodness sake, how on earth can someone do these things?" but when you look at the underlying causes, there really isn't anything funny about it.

And also sorry for you loss Mike.

Yeah Mikey - my first reaction after reading the article was how could any one standing around watching let it happen and not intervene and help out what was obviously a confused elderly lady.
