I'm trying to plan my next adventure for March 09. I'm hoping to go for a minimum of 6 months and would like to go to Australia, NZ and Asia (not the world technically...!) I don't fancy going with a company tho - I love the freedom of moving to wherever I want whenever I want, but I would like to know some people who might be in similar places at a similar time that I could meet up with/travel would be nice to know there is a friendly face to meet!!

So if anyone is planning to go to any of those areas around that time just get in contact and hopefully we'll meet sometime in the next 12 months!!

Hey Curlykate,

I'm also in the planning stage hoping to go that way about Jan/Feb 09. It's scary stuff going by yourself but this website is great for trying to tie up with people. I gradually getting braver by the day!

You give me hope! Well let me know how your plans are going and if you find any good deals, I can't wait to actually get booked and sorted.

Have you met anyone else with similar plans?

Hey, i'm teaching English in China at the moment, i'll be leaving to travel across SE asia, China and overland into Pakistan and India. I'm giving myself 6 to 8 months for the trip starting end of jan 2009.

I've got a basic plan but not too sure what the best order for SE asia is, at the moment i'm thinking vietnam-cambodia-thailand-laos-china

What places in asia are you two looking to go to?

Well I went to STA today to get a bit more of an idea of what I should be looking at etc and my plan was to go from Australia to Thailand and then up to Beijing but I've been warned about the monsoons. So now my itinery is to go to Beijing 1st July and travel down. I've been to Thailand and def want to go again but want to make sure I fit in Laos, cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore.

How you finding China? The guy I spoke to at STA mentioned that I might find it difficult being on my own there with the language and cultural differences, he then told me a story about how someon was stuck at the train station for 3 days because no one would stop to help them...!! Not exactly what I wanted to hear...

Now that I've got some plans though I'm so excited!
