Bangkok to Japan or Korea??

Hey, im trying to get from bangkok to japan or korea.
flights are well... way way too much. about £350 return! or us$730!!!!
can anyone reccommend a cheap airline to fly with or a good travel company?? or even another way of getting to japan??
can fly with air asia to shanghai then get the ferry to osaka, but works out at the same price and i have to get a chinese visa!!! which you have to show return flight details and hotel resevation!!

and how much will it cost for accommodation?? budget and midrange??

I flew from Thailand to Seoul a couple of years ago and I couldn't find any cheap flights. The cheapest i found was with STA travel but it was still quite pricey so I think if you want to go to Korea or Japan from Thailand then there are basically no cheap flights.

Once you get to Japan you're probably looking at paying about £15-£20 per night for hostels nowadays, although in Kyoto there were a few cheaper places.

In korea there were hostels in Seoul which I think were about £10, but once you left Seoul there weren't many hostels so for budget hotels I was paying about £15 to £20.

Going from Bangkok to either Korea or Japan you will notice a huge difference in how far your $ goes, or doesn't go. Both are really expensive places to visit. Lots of fun, but you need cash. I was staying with relo's in Korea so it made it a lot easier, but I still found it really exxy.
Japan was along time ago, but I remember it being expensive too.

These days I prefer to travel around the more affordable places in Asia. Means I can go for longer which is always a good thing.

Getting cheap flights to either of these places I don't think will be possible, but you may be lucky.
