it's sound a loop traveling around a part of southeast asia, so you should flight in Ho Chi Minh city explore south by travel to Mekong delta then, travel up to Hanoi through out most highlights lng coastline, i suggested to stay longer in Hoian, beacuse there have every things you wish for holidays Hanoi before travel to Laos, how to get there, of course fastest way is flight take just an hour, second way is by train from Hue, Hue is great culture history city in vietnam, can book your own tranfer to Hue, or open bus of Sinh Cafe, cheap but a bit hassle, from Hue catch night train, few unification express by Hue in a day mainly in the afternoon, let say if you get on the train at 4:30 pm you will be arrival to Hanoi at 5 AM in the morning next day. there 2 highlights and of course touristy too, that is Sapa and Halong, easy to get to is Halong bay, highlight commended have look ]Halong trip combine with local culture tour. please note that there are many boat cruise in Halong of course different rate should be advise by local travel agents such as -snip- back to Hanoi, you should better take short flight to Luang prabang, very recommended to see that heritage site, sure you can book short tours package to explore many un touch and beauty natural and culture site around te regions, from luang prabang take half day by car there are open bus to vientien, if you take car riding should stop at vangvieng, good place to stopover final place is Vientiane capital city of Laos from the just need cross the river you are back to Thai Land, in case you want to explore more north of Laos
from Hanoi capital of vietnam you can travel west to Dien Bien Phu cross Tay Trang custom office then travel xieng khouang, then luang prabang place before enter back to Thai Lan is Ban Houay xay. in vietnam and Laos is very easy to book tours service to get around, but get peace full of mind highly suggest some short tours detail in advance
