Hi. I'm planning to visit Greek islands, solo at end of September.
I'm a very novice traveller - not been out of Britain in 10 years to my shame. Any suggestions from people as to where to go would be very welcome.
I much prefer self catering - eat what you like when you like and just to relax and stroll around beautiful scenery.
Obviously in the evenings I'd probably eat out.
I'm not that bothered about clubbing/ nightlife.
I love scenic views, pleasant beaches and authentic local surroundings + picturesque coastline and any spectacular natural features etc.
Any specific suggestions will be gratefully received.
Also any do's and don'ts
Is it reasonably easy to find accomodation for a single person at a reasonable price and how do I go about it.
I don't need luxury living just a bed and a bathroom!
If there are any good places that people themselves stayed at I'd love to know about them.
Also any advice on the boats that go between islands.
Cheers

Dave

I would recommend Skopelos which is a very attractive island with a nice main town built up into mountains around the harbour. It is fairly low-key, but still with lots of places to eat etc.

Don't worry about finding accomodation - end of September is slightly out of season and there should be plenty of people meeting you off the boat offering places to stay. Last time we went we chanced it and ended up staying in 2 cheap and perfectly acceptable self-catering holiday flats.

I did the Greek Islands solo this past May. It was AMAZING! I would reccomend starting off in Agistri. It is very small, not very touristy and very easy to get to on your first day. Just get to Pireaus from (I'm assuing you are flying into Athens) and get the ferry (2hours) to Agistri. From there you can relax figure things out and it is very easy to get ferry's to other islands from there or to return to Pireaus to get to other islands.

If you are looking to stay at hostels just try booking a day in advance when you figure out where you would like to go next on hostelbookers or hostelworld.

Best!
