My wife and I will celebrate our 10th wedding annaversary this November. We would like to get away somewhere in the Caribbean, but have never traveled internationally before. We are not your average tourist and I'd like to get some recommendations from people who have been to various places in the Caribbean to see what they think might be a good place to go. Let me tell you a little about us:

We are not into wines or drinking in general, so bars/clubs/local alcohol availability is not important to us. We don't smoke, so cigars and other smoking items are of no interest to us. We prefer family friendly beaches, not looking for nude or clothing optional areas. We have never tried international cuisine, so we'd prefer a location that had at least some traces of normal American foods, although we do plan to sample the local cuisine. Since we have never traveled her before, we think an all-inclusive place would be best, to minimize planning and budgeting. What we really want to see in our destination is beautiful clear or tourquise waters, water activities inlcuding motorized fun. We'd like a quiet place, not really interested in party area where the noise is a problem. We like white sand beaches, where the water stays shallow for a good distance out. It would be nice is there was a spa or at least massage available on the premesis. I think thats about it.

So if anyone has been around and knows the areas in the Caribbean pretty well and you think you know just the spot, please post back here and let us know.

Thanks in advance!

Joe :)

Are you American? If not, then I think Veradero, Cuba might be a good location. It's not too expensive, the resorts are very nice, the beaches are good and there are a good selection of hotels to choose from for all price ranges.

If you are an American and unable to travel to Cuba, then perhaps the Moon Palace in Cancun would be good.

Yes we are American, and can't go to Cuba. Thanks for the info.

Try the Virgin Islands or maybe the area around Tulum on Mexico's Caribbean coast.
