Hello everyone,

Me and my future wife are getting married in December 2008. We plan to go for our honeymoon in Jan'09. The origin would be New Delhi, India.

We wouldn't like to go to a very cold place... moderate climate... Around 20 degree centigrade is good... The beaches are fine... But perhaps something slightly exclusive.

I am thinking I can afford around USD 3000 for a 5-6 night package including airfare... Can we throw in two destinations? Perhaps, we may like to do two destinations. E.g. Maldives and Sri Lanka... Or Dubai and Mauritius...

Some of the destinations that come to mind are Egypt, Turkey, Greece (could be cold), Sri Lanka, Dubai, Australia, New Zealand, Maldives, Seychelles

Possible?

Any destinations you can recommend?

Cheers guys!

If you choose Egypt as your honeymoon destination will be a good idea.
Why not tour Cairo for 2 nights to see the Pyramids, the Sphinx and Citadel, coptic Cairo then take sleeper train to Luxor to have a Nile Cruise between Luxor and Aswan where relaxation is coupled with exploration of the past heritage of the country. The weather in Luxor and Aswan is quite warm and the sceneries along the Nile river are marvelous. If you would like to go for a couple of days on a beach you can go to Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh.

A journey to Egypt could be made along with one to Jordan to see Petra one of the 7 wonders of the world and Amman the capital.

Ajourney to Egypt in this time of the year will not cost you more than 750 US$ for 7 nights holiday in 5 stars hotels

Where in Turkey would you want to go? Like most people if you are planning to visit Istanbul, then it would be too cold. But you might be lucky too. Because of global warming it is very hard to predict winters. In Jan 2006 when I was in Istanbul I wasn't wearing a coat and going around in a sweat-shirt but last Jan was really cold.

Some places in south of Turkey might have the weather and beaches you are looking for but I still wouldn't recommend it. It also depends where you are from. I have seen Scandinavian people swim in winter in Turkey but I have never seen Mediterranean people swim in January.

If you are looking for natural beauty and romanticism (I'm assuming you would since it is your honey moon), I would recommend Cappadocia.

what about Israel?
good combination of mild weather (today was 26C, but normally about 20C at winter),
Mediterranean sea, extremelly rich historical background - if you would like to travel.
very different landscapes on petite territory - you can reach everywhere during the day and be back to sleep in your hotel. Jerusalem - no need my comments, beauty of the North, desert in the South, 24-hours/day alive Tel Aviv. Finally, Red Sea (Eilat) on the border with Egypt and Jordan.
1 week is definatelly not enough for everything, country is "packed" with sights, but it can be very nice and special anyway.

5-6 nights is hardly enough even for one destination (if it's a little bit more then just beach), so, don't mess with additional flight.

I dont know where from you coming, but also Central American countries could be great choice.
What about Guatemala? it's amazing country and it's "dry season" in January.

all the best!
