idz has indicated that this thread is about Argentina

Hi,
I am travelling from buenos aires to lima from januar till april. the butterflies are starting to wake up in my tummy and I am trying to read up on the different countries and be a little prepared.
I have never been to South America before, but have travelled a bit. I speak spanish and will be alone for parts of the trip.
I am thinking Chile, paraguay, bolivia? (safe?) and into peru.

Any tips on things to do? How to travel? Places that i cant miss?

All help is appreciated!

Idz

I would definitely suggest going to Peru. I was there a few years ago, and it prompted me to come back and spend more time in the entire continent. Cusco is an amazing place, and definitely worth getting to.

The only country on that list that I havent heard great things about is Paraguay...

If i was you, I would explore Buenos Aires and Uruguay, then head south to the lake district (Bariloche) and then up to the Andes (Mendoza), then up into Bolivia to La Paz, then head into Peru (Lake Titicaca), and after that make sure you get to Cusco and Arequipa. If you have time head up to Huaraz to the Codillera Blanca.

that should fill up a few months

good luck...i will be in uruguay and BA in early february myself

Hi
I'd just like to say I'm travelling alone from the UK to Buenos Aires, arriving in BA on 22 January. I have accommodation booked in a backpackers hostel in Córdoba from 23 unti 31 January, and then for the nights of 1, 2 and 3 February I have accommodation booked in a backpackers hostel in BA. I leave BA on 4 February. I've never been to South America before, either, and have never travelled alone before. I have friends that I've made online who will hopefully meet me at BA airport and escort me to Córdoba which is where they live. You can read the reason for my journey on the forum here http://travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=5956 if you want, save me typing it all in again. The only language I speak is English, and to tell you the truth, I'M SCARED!! But, I'm not gonna let that stop me from going and hopefully having the time of my life... I'm also very excited and at the end of the day, the feelings of excitement and nervousness are very similar; they both invoke butterflies in your tummy.

Apart from what I've told you already, the only plans, or even hopes I have is that I would like, at some point, to visit the Iguassu Falls, if possible. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know in case you were in the same areas around about the same time and perhaps would like to meet up.

I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I hope to enjoy mine.

Mike... :)
