Hello,

Can anyone help me and suggest some places which I should definitely not miss while travelling in Thailand?

I am starting in Bangkok on 21th of sep 2008 For now all I know that I want to spend 2 days in Bangkok and 2 days in pattaya (whitewater rafting, trekking). Not sure if it is a good idea to go to phuket for 2 days. but would love to take scuba diving course

What itinerary would you suggest?

How about some home stay in northern Thailand in a rice farming community and hill tribes?

"whitewater rafting, trekking" - are activities you will NOT find in Pattaya. It is a very urban environment and great for eating shopping etc, but not for the "outward bounder".
You can get some water-sports (sailing etc)

Go up north or to one of the National Parks for trekking.
I love Kao Sok which is down South between Surrathani (Samui) and Phuket.

Please try and check out how environmentally friendly your activities are....many Thai tour operators don't give a fig about the environment and thailand is suffering as a result.

Wil is right. Pattaya is for wine, women & song. Similar to Las Vegas, and I should know!, Pattaya is for fun, not trekking, rafting. Take a look here. You could combine your trekking, rafting and scuba in the Phuket/Krabi area. Just a thought.

hi there,
you really need to consider what you want because thialand is a very different place compared to 8 years ago its massivly over run with tourists and the tour companies etc dont give a stuff about the effect it has they want your cash. places to avoid i would say puket, koh samui and pattaya there is just built up over development at these places and rubbish in the streets etc not nice anymore, cool places in thailand are further south beyond koh lanta or koh sok, far up north near chang mai is really nice cheap and trekkiing some white water rafting but nothing too extreme, its even hard to find an authentic hill tribe becuase many of them are visited by tourists every day they are no longer authentic you have to go right up to the burmise border to find some on a 3 day trek.

good luck though have fun. Dont drop fag buts or rubbish, especially in the sea!!

you really good place chose to holiday. Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden:-At Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden besides its fame as the biggest and the most beautiful botanical garden in Southeast Asia, you will experience various kinds of fascinating and impressive Thai cultural and traditional dance shows. Elephant Show and Mini Zoo are also provided.
Underwater World Pattaya:-Leisure attraction showcasing the rich variety of marine life found around the region. It complements the many other educational and recreational activities available at this beautiful seaside resort.Underwater World Pattay also plays an important role in education and marine conservation.

Pattaya is a nice place to simply relax at. Hotels are cheaper than Phuket or Bangkok. Transportation is cheap at 10 baht a ride. Lots of malls, travel agencies for tours and tickets, many good restaurants and lots of bars too!

Things you can do in Pattaya or the surrounding area.
