Im going travelling next week. I think im going to have to burn my diary i kept for a few years (during a very influential time!) It makes great reading, but its also full of bold things. Not so bold as to have me arrested when i get home but not the stuff that id like my mum/boyfriend to read!Any ideas?

Check into the costs of a safety deposit box at your bank. Only you will have the key and you can retrieve the diary when you get back home. That, or take it with you as you may have many more "adventures" of various types to add to it. There is always the small metal lock-box and bury it in the back yard. (Just hope no one moves while you're away...) I would not recommend even the most trustworthy friend holding onto it - the temptation to peak can be overpowering. (I have friends I trust with my life but not necessarily with a diary.)

My friend has a lot of romantic lettes from her ex-boy-friends and three diaries too... So, when she got married she gave me all these letters and her diaries.... We are best friends and I need to tell you that I have never thought even to turn over the pages of diaries.... Because we are best friends!!! So, if you trust your friend, she/he will be better that any bank......

Is it huge? Take it with you!! You can then continue to add to it when you get up to more adventures whilst your away!!

I remember my mother reading my diary when l was about 16/17 - SHE REGRETTED THAT - l was also grounded for weeks!!! Such a shattering time for my mother to find out l wasnt that sweet innocence (well maybe drop the sweet lve always been a cynic) that she gave birth too!!!!!! But l survived and so did she - well my sister helped cos she got up to much much worse than l ever did (well l just didnt bring it home!)

So you could leave it behind and hang the consequences!! How bad can it be!

ha ha thanks for the advice i may publish some stories when i get back for some funds!!Although if i took it with me and lost it on my travels it would make fantastic reading for someone (if they can possibly make out the inebriated scrawling for some entries!) Oh what to do just packing my bag now leaving in the morning...i think ill selotape it closed beyond recognition and stick it into some book that i might selotape closed too...and put that into a box that i could also selotape!Although time could be better spent looking for my passport right now!

I have a bunch of my diaries and letters from various ex-boyfriends that I'm simply not able to jettison, so when I went travelling I put them together in a bundle and wrapped them.

Stop laughing

Then, I just buried them in a dark corner under my bed. While I was travelling my parents decided to renovate my bedroom as a surprise for when i returned! So, quite literally, every box and folder was ransacked in an effort to prune the various flotsam and jetsom of my life to date. I'm a bit of a hoarder, and the look they were going for was "minimalism".

However, safe and sound and unwrapped were my collection of diaries in the same box, albeit under a different bed and in a different position in my room

I kinda prefer the scenario of burying them in the back garden though!
