Hi all,
We're heading to thailand around oct /nov time and we've now practically run out of cash
as we've spent most of it in Russia, mongolia , and china!.
We want to relax at a beach for as long as possible when we get there.
Could anyone help with where a nice place might be to do this with a cheap room or apt that you may have been to or heard of!?
For atleast a couple of weeks.

Cheers and regards.

What beach do you want to hang out on? You can get a bed in a hostel/guest house in phuket for about 160 Baht or 200 Baht in Samui. Check out hostelworld

How much do you have available for a hotel each night? What price level would fit your budget? Pattaya is pretty cheap, bus from Bangkok to Pattaya is only 2 hours and around 127 baht. Various priced hotel rooms. Beach is only okay for sunbathing, walking, shopping and restaurants and malls - better beach is nearby at Jomtien - 20 baht for the ride.

The advantage is that you save on airfare and have a place where you still have modern malls and other modern conveniences. Transportation is only 10 baht from fixed route baht buses. Restaurants, bars and even movie theaters are pretty cheap.

Basic rooms with air conditioning can be found around 450-550 baht per night, sometimes cheaper for longer stays. Closer to Christmas the higher the prices. Cheaper fan only rooms will run around 200 - 350 baht per night.

Good luck.
