Cheers Frank,
In Bangkok I would definitly try and get to the Merald Buddha and the Grand Palace, same stop and place. The reclining Buddha a few blocks down the street towards The Royal Orchid Hotel is another good stop and then I would suggest China Town, and then Temple of the Dawn. All of these are in the same general area. China Town can be a lot of fun to take in lunch and see all the shops and sample food.

If you have not gotten to the Amdaman coast, Phuket area I would try and get there, sooo much better than Pattaya. You can choose a laid back location or Patong beach where it's a much more party scene and atmosphere. Beaches are great and much cleaner than Pattaya.

If you like WWII history take the "Bridge on the River Kwai" tour and Hellfire Pass. Here is a sample tour for general info. http://www.bangkok.com/beyond-the-city/riverkwai.html

You can do a single day or a 2 day tour. Stay in one of the places in a barge hotel with straw roofs, go rafting if you want.

Some things you might want to do in Pattaya if you haven't already.

1. dont go to PHUKET...

Where is China town, I probably passed by a thousand times, but I didn't noticed. Is that distinctly, CHINESE in Character??? China towns are everywhere, what is special about this Bangkok china town? China towns are basically market looking streets with chinese restaurants... the age of China towns in tourist maps should be out of fashion.

There are so much things to do and see in Bangkok. Castles and palaces are the first priority to visit. A dinner inside the floating market in the river, a night shopping in Patpong and MBK, and a quick visit to Ayutthaya - the oldest historical city of Thailand.

Enjoy!

its amazing how some temples are just ignore by the tourist buses. There are too many wonders indeed. They don't even seem to care about that IRON castle/temple near Khao san... the one in the postcards. Nobody goes there and the place looks like a PARKING LOT, well it is a parking lot... the world's most beautiful parking lot.

I never use a map and rarely take public transport, I'm that cheap. But I get amaze with where my feet takes me. I find the attractions all by accident. I just found that GIANT SWING and I love it more than the crowded palaces with their entrance fees. Anything with a ticket is not for me! Its for American kids who go to Disneyland.

Id rather feed pigeons who are soaring above my head every 5 minutes.
