Hello,

My husband and I are booked to fly to Taiwan on Oct 2nd for 2 weeks. Having checked a recent weather report, we're a bit concerned about the weather. It forecasts storms for the next 10 days.

We were planning to go to Taroko Gorge and to Kaohsiung, but should we just stay put in Taipei?!

What are the local weather forecasts predicting?

Many thanks,

Cheekyvee

A new typhoon Higos might invade Taiwan this weekend (Oct 5), it would be better if you can postpone your trip.
Ask for road conditions via your hotels before heading to your destinations and avoid the Taichung county especially Nantou county.

Taiwan Central Weater Bureau pridicts that Higos is gonna hit South of Taiwan this Sunday(Oct 5), so Taipei city will be better for staying. BTW, Kaohsiung will be better for your next movement after Higos is gone. Cos' the rain of Higos may destroy the road to Tarogo, asking the information center in Taipei Main Station or checking on webside before going to Tarogo. Have a nice trip in Taiwan.

Excerpted from the local weather forcast report:

Typhoon Higos will likely affect Taiwan’s weather two or three days later.

Higos has been moving west-northwest toward Taiwan at a speed of 20 km per hour, according to CWB forecasters.

If Higos maintains the current course, it could become the fourth typhoon that will have direct impact on Taiwan for the fourth weekend.

For Taiwan, the weather will remain cool and cloudy today and tomorrow for most regions except eastern Taiwan that will continue to have rains.

But more sporadic rains will cover the whole island starting on Friday.

The temperature range will be 22 to 29 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan today and tomorrow, 22 to 30 degrees in central part of the island, 24 to 31 degrees in the south, and 24 to 28 degrees in eastern Taiwan.

I'll keep following the local weather report , and warn in time.
Have fun here in Taiwan!
