Hi all

Does anyone know the cheapest time of year for flights to South America from UK... and if so... what airlines tend to have the best specials to S. America?

Also, for those that have travelled at different times of the year - whens the best time to travel there? I know this is all subjective but am happy to have as many personal opinions as possible

Thanks

1. I think if you just avoid the xmas period you will be ok....

2. Check out CometAir and AeroSur. They do cheap flights from Madrid to Peru/Bolivia/Ecuador so you could probably fly to Madrid for practically nothing and then catch one of those...

3. Hmm, all depends on which countries you are going to. Its a huge continent remember so you might want to pick some countries that interest you then do a google search for the climate in each one...

hope this helps

Like El boot already said, it depends on which country you want to fly into.
If this doesn't matter, than check SLM or KLM airlines which have flights for around 600 euro return from Amsterdam. This is probably one of the cheapest to fly from anywhere in Europe to anywhere in South America.
Ok, it is Suriname and like the Guyanas not as popular as many other countries in South America. Just a reason more to explore it I guess.

Otherwise I always try to go for direct flights if possible. Unless it is way to expensive compared to flights with a stop or change of planes.

Also check package deals to the Caribbean and then just buy a cheap ticket from the respective island to let's say Venezuela or even Manaus.

Is there a specific airport from the UK or to South America where you want to fly out of/into?

July/August and half Dec - half Jan are the busiest and most expensive times. I would avoid easter as well.

Avoid christmas. AS for airlines there are plenty of internet sites that will list a variety of flights and prices for you to checkout. British Airways can be Ok pricewisw. You could also consider a RTW ticket, they can be very resonable.

Thanks all for your input and advice. Will start checking those airlines for cheap flights. Am interested in seeing as much of South America as possible but starting with a short trip. Am probably going to be guided by price for the first trip, hence my question about airlines.

Flying from London, and looking at going within next 12 months, depending on work/holidays and price of flights.

Thanks again for all your advice.

If you come to South America, Uruguay, Argentina or Chile, I recommend you the months of September to April.

They are months that you can enjoy and learn without problems of climate ...

Uruguay is in very good visit especially in the months from December to March, because you can go to the beach ...

Also in setiempbre, October, November, March., April and May, you can tour the country, enjoy the small rural communities, and learn about native cultures with the inhabitants ...

Welcomee to South America
