6-8 Weeks in the USA ...

What places are must see in the USA???

I fly in to LA and out of New York, travelling with a friend on a budget but hopefully not have to rough it lol!!! I will drive if needs be, and want to visit Vegas (again), the canyons and maybe Washington ... any ideas and suggestions will be appreciated. We have at least 6-8 weeks to see as much as is possible!!!

Ok, just a list of my personal favourites -

Miami for a really chilled out atmosphere and great beaches
Monument Valley
Mesa Verde
Grand Tetons
Orlando if you like theme parks
Yellowstone
Visit a dude ranch (I went to Sun Canyon in Montana)

Thanks hey_monkee ... looks like you've suggested some great places, Yellowstone is already on my list and mesa verde and monument valley will definately be added to it!

I think were gonna leave out the theme parks and miami at this point and maybe visit those places on holidays at some point in the future.

I had never heard of a dude ranch before but what a fab idea, my friend is horse crazy, so im sure this will be top of her list now!!!

While you are in the area visitin Yellowstone, Glacier National park is another good one to hit. You could also check out Mount Rushmore and the black hills if they aren't too far out of your way. Check out Baltimore or Boston or some place in that area for some great sea food and some new England culture.

Heres what we've thought of so far ...

Arrive in LA go south to San Diego then from there to Vegas and the canyons (and surrounding areas), fly to San Fran then make our way north to Washington and on to Vancouver, possibly fly(?) towards Yelowstone and see some sites around that area, then hopefully Mount Rushmore
..... then probably fly back to LA for a break and use our flight to New York and head east, we fancy taking in Chicago if possible or Boston, and of course see Niagara Falls and finish up in the Big Apple!!!
